I've got two blogs going here. One concerns my forays into porcelain-painting, where I've posted pictures of my work (click on "older posts" at the bottom of each page to see more photos. Also, click on the images to get close-ups). Whenever I see a piece of blank porcelain, I have an impulse to paint it. I apply the paint directly on the glaze. The pieces are then baked so that the pigments vitrify and fuse to the surface. The paint I use is non-toxic, and the pieces can be washed in the dish-washer. The cups, mugs, tea pots, pitchers, large bowls, glasses etc. can be used as one would any normal cups, mugs, tea pots, etc. However the large flat plates have a more restricted use, and might be regarded as ornamental. As the paint is on the glaze rather than underneath it, it can be scratched by metal utensils. Therefore the plates should only be used for serving things like sandwiches, cakes, salads, pasta -- whatever isn't served with metal implements. *****The other blog mainly contains a selection of my English poems. I began writing English poetry rather seriously around 2002. I haven't written much since June, 2007.
